Viva Rio supported the State Government of Rio de Janeiro in developing an environmental education plan for the areas impacted by a storm that struck the Rio’s mountainous region in January 2011. Since then Viva Rio has been promoting social improvement and environmental protection initiatives in the affected cities of Petrópolis, Teresópolis and Nova Friburgo.

Viva Rio works as a link to involve residents, local leaders, vendors, schools and universities in the project. We also offers community and civil defense activities, lectures, events, courses and campaigns. Our goal is to foster social development, environmental preservation and reduce the risks caused by extreme weather events.
