Viva Rio 10 years

Viva Rio celebrated the 10 year anniversary of activities with a whole week of festivities, shows, expositions and public demonstrations. The party rocked the Lucio Costa Park, in Gloria, with the shows of musicians such as Grabriel “O Pensador”, Sandra de Sá, Toni Garrido and the DJ Marlboro.
Gun-Free March

The Gun-Free march supporting the Disarmament Statute was organized by Viva Rio on Copacabana beach. Despite the cold rain, 50,000 participants gathered that day.
Flame of Peace

On Sunday 6 July, the State Government of Rio, in partnership with Viva Rio, organised the public destruction of 4,158 firearms seized from criminals by the police. These weapons were crushed with a steam roller and some were also destroyed in a pyre: the "Flame of Peace".
